We have spent the last 10 years reading about the quest by the Carrows in their search for the ultimate buckle. From Eagle Eye to Joshua to Flash Carrow, they all were driven by a common vision. But where did this vision come from?
Before buckles, before humans, before the Democratic and Republican parties, there existed the gods. Zeus, as we are told, was the grand daddy of them all. And he presided over a group of immortals who, after living forever, started to get bored.
So Zeus commanded his god of invention, Karo, to come forth and create something that would make life interesting for the gods.
It is said that it took 8 days to make the earth. But Karo, being as creative as he is, whipped up the earth in only 3 days. He filled it with oceans, lands, trees and animals of the strangest nature.
Unfortunately, after many millions of years, the gods became bored again and once again Zeus commanded Karo to create something to keep the gods humored again. Karo comes up with this brilliant idea to create "humans". He would create humans in the image of gods.
Zeus loved the idea.
But he warned Karo. DON'T LET THEM GO NEAR MY APPLE TREE.
Zeus always enjoyed going down to earth for his morning run and finishing it off with a helping spoonful of Ambrosia, which of course was filled with apples.
So Karo created Ben and Gertrude.
Ben and Gertrude flourished in their careless existence. Always perfect weather so each one can run around naked and live the ultimate free spirited life. Until, of course, Gertrude found the apple tree and took a bite.
Zeus was angry. So he put a stop to Ben and Gertrude's life of no concerns and immediately introduced "modesty".
In their newly discovered nakedness they became embarrassed and immediately searched to find items which would cover their bodies.
What worked best were animal skins.
Only problem was that whatever Ben and Gertrude tried to put on, it would fall off. So Zeus told Karo to fix it.
Karo thought and thought. He needed something that would clip together. Something to hold the animal skins on so they would not fall off Ben and Gertrudeís bodies.
He needed a BUCKLE.
And thus the first buckle was created.
OK, problem solved.
But, it wasn't long until they realized it was more fun to take it off. And thus the invention of a quick release buckle. But that, my friends, is another story.
It has been said that INVENTION is the creation of divine providence.
You may wonder what this has to do with buckles, but at National Molding, we take this notion quite seriously.
Our passion for invention drives us.
It connects us.
You might even say, it is part of our religion.
